IMCOLLECTIVE is an architecture and design practice. We use our creative energy to create bold visual identities, robust spaces and objects made to last. The common denominator across all projects is a meticulous attention to detail.

IMCOLLECTIVE is an architecture and design practice. We use our creative energy to create bold visual identities, robust spaces and objects made to last. The common denominator across all projects is a meticulous attention to detail.

We work with an ever-expanding community of creatives to ensure that our projects, regardless of client or scale, are enhanced by interdisciplinary knowledge, resources and experience. The same goes for our practice areas. We believe that the interplay between architecture and design leads to more robust and distinctive creations.

The studio's name represents this happy paradox: it gives voice to our personal aspirations, but also to our collective creativity. IM refers to our names, Inês Moreira and Miguel Moreira, and to our singular but intertwined paths. If IM is for the singular, COLLECTIVE is for all the partnerships that the studio has, and there are many, ranging from architecture and interiors to graphic and product design projects. It also includes special events or projects, such as the COLLECTIVE COLLECTION — a limited line of solid wood furniture designed by us, or the COLLECTIVE TALKS — conversations with creatives held at our studio in Leça da Palmeira, Porto, Portugal.

Meet the team

Inês Moreira

Co-Founder & Architect

Architect with 15 years' experience, Inês Moreira has worked in collective housing, services and large-scale projects across three countries: Portugal, South Africa and the UK. In the studio, she demonstrates that simplicity of form and proportion can lead to beautiful functional spaces.

In her leisure time, she can be found reading, listening to her ever-growing record collection, swimming and running - sometimes in the city, sometimes in a large field of wildflowers with her dog Miles.

Miguel Moreira

Co-Founder & Designer

From former runner to running a creative studio, Miguel Moreira brings a high-performance mindset to design.
With an undergraduate degree in architecture, and a master’s degree in graphic design and editorial projects, he has an unrivalled curiosity for creative practices and techniques. In the studio, he creates bold, detail-oriented designs.

His hobbies include reading, cycling, swimming and, not surprisingly, running. He's also responsible for the studio's speciality coffee stand — a peaceful ritual that keeps his energy flowing.

Jorge Carvalheiro

Head of Business

With a degree in accounting and business studies and years of experience in a consultancy firm, Jorge Carvalheiro owns a real estate company and oversees the studio business. Determined to do business in a meaningful, sustainable and structured way, he ensures that everything runs smoothly in the studio.

He likes to run in his spare time. Record breaking included.

The studio opens occasionally to host talks, workshops, and pop-up shops. During these events, the creative community is encouraged to share their projects and paths, nurturing a safe space for ideas to grow.
